Goofy’s Candy Company: Mickey Rice Krispies Treat
*makes 8 – 10 treats
Ingredients:
1 pan of Rice Krispies Treats (recipe is below)
1 Mickey Mouse Cookie Cutter
1 bag of Wilton Cocoa Candy Melts or 1 brick of Chocolate Almond Bark Coating
1 bag of Wilton White Candy Melts or 1 brick of Vanilla Almond Bark Coating
Assorted toppings like: crushed Oreos, crushed Butterfinger Bars, crushed Skor or Heath Bars, crushed graham crackers, crushed Reese’s Pieces, Mini M&Ms, multi-colored sprinkles, etc.
2 tablespoons vegetable oil or shortening wax paper lollipop sticks (can be found in the cake decorating aisle of your local craft store or Walmart’s craft section)
Tip: If you do not want to make homemade Rice Krispies Treats you can purchase the pre-made bars in the grocery store’s cereal or snack aisle. They won’t be Mickey-shaped but will work just as well.
Tip: Crush the cookies or candy bars in your food processor or place them in a gallon-size freezer bag and crush using a rolling pin or back of a frying pan. Store them in separate bags until ready to use.
Directions:
Make your Rice Krispies Treats (following the recipe below) and cut out the shapes with your cookie cutter the day before or at least 6-8 hours prior to allow them time to air-dry and harden a little.
Place the Candy Melts or Almond Bark into microwave-safe bowls (you will need 2, one bowl for each flavor). Add 1 tablespoon of oil or shortening to each bowl. Melt them in the microwave at 50% power in 30-second increments until completely melted, stirring occasionally (or melt in a double boiler).
While waiting for the candy to melt, prepare your toppings station. Pour each topping into a separate dish or paper plate (make sure you have plenty of the topping, you will need to have enough to completely cover the treats).
After the chocolate has melted completely, dip your lollipop stick into the chocolate about 1-inch deep then insert it into the bottom center of your Mickey Mouse-shaped Rice Krispies Treat (this will secure the stick better). Now dip the whole treat in the chocolate and coat completely with the help of a spoon. Shake off any excess, then place the treat into the topping and using your hands, bury it. Also, pack it down a little on top, then leave it alone for at least 5 minutes. You can start working on the other treats while waiting. Now go back and check the Mickey treat. Remove it from the topping and set it on a wax paper-lined plate. Take a fork and dip it in your choice of milk or white chocolate and drizzle over the treat, using a quick back and forth motion. Keep drizzling, Disney is NOT stingy with their drizzle!!

When done, let it set out until hardened. Then pretend you are back in Disney World and enjoy!!
White Chocolate with Oreo and more White Chocolate If you don’t want to coat the Mickey Treat completely, you can always just coat the ears.

Rice Krispies Treats Recipe:

6 cups mini-marshmallows -or- 1 (10 ounce) bag of large marshmallows (about 40)
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal

Spoon into a 9×13-inch casserole dish or cake pan that has been buttered or sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Spread evenly using a buttered spatula or wax paper. Let sit out on counter at least 2 hours. Press buttered or sprayed cookie cutter into the sheet of Rice Krispies then remove the shape and set on wax paper overnight.
Gift Ideas:
You can buy candy treat bags at your local craft store or Walmart’s craft section. Give individually-wrapped treats to your child’s classmates or the co-workers at your office. You can also create a gift basket and fill with assorted treats. Yum!
Christmas Ideas:
Buy the red and green Wilton Candy Melts to dip them in the holiday colors and/or use Christmas-colored sprinkles to roll them in. And instead of Mickey Mouse, cut into triangles to make Christmas tree-shapes. Either way, these are going to be a HUGE hit at any holiday party or event.
Party Ideas:
If hosting a birthday or slumber party, set up the toppings station and let each child help create their customized treat.
