You know I’m always on the hunt for nice and affordable wines. I came across the 2009 Frei Brothers Reserve Zinfandel at my local grocery store when it was on special for $13 and I thought I would give it a try. To my surprise, it is indeed a very nice and classic Dry Creek Valley zinfandel for the money. According to the tasting notes, “The 2009 Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel displays classic fruit flavors of red and black currant and bramble berry. Spicy notes of black pepper, white pepper, and nutmeg add layers, and the finish is elegant and mouth-coating.” So if you are looking for a nice zin that doesn’t break the bank, give the 2009 Frei Brothers Reserve Zinfandel a try.
