Not only do blooming flowers, pastel colors and adorable bunnies remind us of Easter, they're an exciting way to welcome warmer weather this spring. It turns out, Easter crafts go way beyond egg decorating ideas — think DIY Easter baskets, floral garlands, spring wreaths and egg-shaped coasters. To spark inspiration, we've rounded up simple Easter craft ideas for all ages and skill levels.

Beginners can tackle our painted cupcake liner wreath or painted bottle brush trees, while more advanced crafters can try their hand at an Easter lily garland or beaded carrots. Toddlers and school age kids can get involved, whether they help you paint their Easter basket or cut out felt for a bunny goodie bag. Elevate your Easter egg hunt this year by skipping the traditional food dye. Instead, experiment with sequin, embroidered or fabric-wrapped eggs. Not to mention, most of these festive projects — like the wooden table runner, cottagecore wreath and floral candles — double as cheery Easter decorations.

Start scrolling to find a ton of original ideas from our team of expert crafters, ranging from super simple to slightly challenging. You may need to pick up some basic craft supplies, like Mod Podge, craft paint, a hot glue gun and more. Luckily, we've listed easy-to-follow instructions and linked to helpful tutorials, so you can focus on having fun with the family!

Bottle Brush Carrots

Turn basic bottle brush trees into cute carrot decor you can reuse year after year. They'll look adorable hanging from a simple boxwood wreath, set on a place setting or inside an Easter basket.

Steps:

  1. Spray paint bottle brush trees with orange spray paint (you may need a few coats), and let dry completely.
  2. Cut off the tree's wooden base with wire cutters.
  3. Cut equal lengths of green raffia string and glue to the remaining wire stem of the tree.
  4. Wrap another piece of raffia around the base and glue into place.

Sequin Eggs

Add sparkle to their Easter basket! Use sequin pins to stick each sequin onto a foam egg. Repeat until you have covered the entire egg. Stick to one solid color or experiment with patterns! This glitzy craft is beginner-friendly. Just keep in mind it can take time to apply each individual sequin.

3

Alcohol Ink Dyed Eggs

With a lustrous finish, these ink-dyed Easter eggs make perfect place settings. Situate one in the center of each dinner place setting to leave a lasting impression on guests. NOTE: Alcohol ink painted eggs should not be consumed.

Steps:

  1. Cover your work surface and hands (alcohol inks can stain!). Add a few drops of ink to a cotton ball and dab onto the egg.
  2. Repeat step 2 with another color to create a textured look. Mix colors as desired (add a metallic to emphasize the luster look).
  3. Allow to fully dry before handling.

Easter Lily Garland

After dying Easter eggs, you likely have natural egg cartons lying around. Try turning them into a beautiful Easter Lily garland that can be displayed in your home.

Steps:

  1. Cut the tall pointed peaks from an egg carton with a craft knife or sharp scissors. (Save the egg cups for more flower crafts!) Cut the base of the peak into four petal shapes. Repeat with more egg cartons as needed.
  2. Paint the outside of each flower with white craft paint thinned with a little water. Once completely dry, paint the inside with a contrasting color.
  3. To create the garland, poke a hole through each flower using a skewer. Thread a long ribbon through the hole. Tie a knot between each flower to hold in place.
5

Easter Lily Wreath

Instead of a garland, use your hand-crafted Easter Lilies to create a cheerful spring wreath. Before you begin, follow the above instructions to craft your egg carton flowers (which includes painting them a spring color, like pink).

Steps:

  1. Poke a hole through each flower using a skewer. Cut a 30" piece of sturdy floral wire. Thread seven flowers on each end of the wire, using hot glue to secure each in place.
  2. Tie a ribbon bow in the center.
6

Embroidered Eggs

Anyone who spots these playful Easter eggs will wonder how you created them! The trick is to begin with a blown-out egg, which means the eggy insides are extracted but the shell is intact. From there, get creative with designs.

Steps:

  1. Coat the entire blown-out egg with Mod Podge to harden the shell. Let dry completely.
  2. Draw an oval on one side of the egg with your pencil. Using the diamond cutting wheel on your Dremel, carefully cut into the egg and slowly cut out the oval to open the back of the egg.
  3. Mark where you would like the holes with your pencil.
  4. Using your Dremel tool with the size bit that fits your string drill, carefully drill into the egg to make the holes.
  5. Tie a knot at the end of your string and thread the other end through your needle.
  6. Starting from the inside of the egg, pull the needle and string through so that the knot hits the inside of the egg and is secure. Continue making your design. At the end, make another knot and secure.

Design your own Easter-themed candles, then use them as table centerpieces, add them to an Easter basket or gift them to your favorite host. You'll need paint markers (or acrylic paint), rubbing alcohol, a cloth and, of course, taper candles.

Steps:

  1. Use a clean cloth to wipe your candles with rubbing alcohol. This will remove lint and debris for a smooth surface.
  2. Use paint markers or craft paint to draw a series of dots, flowers and patterns. Work on one side and let it dry completely before moving to another side.

Gingham Eggs

Gingham is the perfect pattern to incorporate into your Easter decorations. Along with white eggs (we recommend hard-boiled, blown-out or wooden craft eggs), this craft requires acrylic paint and a 10 mm flat paintbrush.

Steps:

  1. Water down craft paint until it is the consistency of heavy cream.
  2. Paint vertical stripes down the sides of the egg. Don’t use too much paint to avoid drips. Let your painting dry.
  3. Next, paint horizontal stripes around the egg and let it dry. If desired, darken the overlapping squares of color with more paint to emphasize the gingham look.

  2. Paint each cupcake liner a different color by making brush strokes on the edges of the liner. Be sure to keep the center white to get a ‘flower look.'
  3. Let everything dry.

These cute egg coasters were made using replacement glass for oval pictures (glass or acrylic plexiglass are other options). Add Mod Podge, lightweight fabric, fabric scissors and a craft or foam brush to your list when shopping for supplies.

Steps:

  1. Make sure the glass is free of dust and lint. Cut fabric 1” larger than your glass. Paint a generous amount of Mod Podge on one side of the glass. Lay it on top of the fabric and smooth out any wrinkles or air bubbles.
  2. Cover your glass with a heavy book and wait several hours for your new coasters to dry.
  3. Once dry, trim around the edge of the glass with fabric scissors.

      Carrot Treat Cones

easter crafts, three treat coned tied with string to look like carrots
      Mike Garten

The Easter bunny isn't the only one who likes carrots — your guests will too (well these carrot-shaped treat cones, anyway)! To make, you'll need to print out our carrot template, and gather up coffee filters, orange paper, double-stick tape, green craft paint, twine, a clothespin, a wire hanger, paper towel and scissors.

      Steps:

      1. Mix a few drops of green craft paint with water until it reaches the consistency of milk. Soak coffee filters in the paint mixture until fully saturated (you can do this several simultaneously).
      2. Squeeze out excess paint and lay the filters flat to dry on paper towels or hang them from a hanger with a clip or clothespin. Download our template and trace it onto orange paper.
      3. Cut out and roll the template into a cone shape, adhering the sides with double-stick tape. Cut out the center of the painted coffee filters.
      4. Attach the remaining paper to the inside edge of the cone with double-stick tape. Fill the “carrot” cone with small treats and tie twine around the top to close.
