Hi! I am making some of these and I am wondering if you sealed them and if so how\ with what. I want them to last for as long as possible and don’t want the back to peel off! Thanks

Hi Ashley— No, I didn’t seal them. But this project is about six years old and the candlesticks still look great!

  2. Hi, im wondering if you had to put something on the birch log on the outside of it? Like a protectant ?

Hi, Patti! I didn’t, I just made sure to use a candle that had its own housing and kept a close eye on it! I’ve had these for years without any issues. :)

  3. These are beautiful. Before reading the post I thought to myself those would be perfect Christmas decor :). I am one of the unlucky ones that cannot find Birch trees in my backyard though. I have seen similar crafts with other types of wood. So I am inspired nonetheless!

    1. I agree that it would be beautiful with other types of wood! Thanks for stopping by, Dana :)

  4. Nina, you really eyeballed them well! I love decorating for fall, like you said, the transition to winter with all the neutrals are my happy place too. – My husband is a carpenter and we have more wood around than anything else. I’m down in So Florida, I am not sure if we could find birch here? But, this is most definitely a project that I will love to DIM {do it myself ;) } . Glad to see you back at blogging! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Hi Flavia, Sorry for the delayed reply, I somehow turned my comments off by accident! I think it would work with many different types of wood. I hope your project goes well!
