Holiday Home Tour | Part Three | The Dining Room & a Free Printable!

Welcome to part three of my Holiday Home Tour!
Today, I am going to share a Christmas vignette that I set up (with the creative help of my mom) and our mantel in my dining room. If I shared my table, you would be pretty disappointed. It is currently covered with “stuff” but come Christmas day, I will have it nicely set and decorated, as we are hosting Christmas here this year.

Till then…here is the rustic vignette I set up…
We live in such a small space, this dresser actually holds my children’s pajamas and things that I like to have easy access to for them downstairs. How many people keep a kid’s dresser in their dining room? Probably not many, but you gotta do what works.
You might also notice the baby/dog gate in the picture above. It’s the only one we have in the house, and not very pretty, I know, but it is a necessity with toddlers who like to wander upstairs and a dog who likes to go to the bathroom on rugs. Sigh.)
I used an old milk crate and my collection of ironstone pitchers. I added some left over greenery from our Christmas tree, painted pine cones, cinnamon sticks and vintage ornaments.
I really have to give a lot of credit to my mother for the inspiration behind this vignette. I kept setting it up with lots of different things and didn’t like the direction it was headed. She went into my basement, pulled some things out that I never would have thought to use (the chippy painted brushes on the wall, pine cones and old books). It is always fun to have a fresh eye from someone else. (So thanks Mom!)
I love our little vintage inspired “Père Noël” as we call him…
I apologize for some of the photos in the rest of this post. I had to take them in the later afternoon when both kids were napping, and unfortunately, my dining room doesn’t offer much in the way of natural light.
I got this free chalkboard printable from Love, Pomegranate House
This year, our chandelier has been adorned with angel wings.
The door leading to our basement has a silver wreath with bottle brush star ornament.
Here is the mantel vignette that I created…
I created the angel wings out of coffee filters. (My daughter Hazel can actually wear them too!) I hung them inside an antique frame with a glittered BELIEVE banner…
If there is interest, I will try to post a tutorial on how I made them in the new year.
Lights twinkle under tulle fabric, and there is a collection of bottle brush trees, and a porcelain Mary and Jesus statue.
My husband gave me this beautiful white topiary tree for my birthday on the 15th…
Inside the mantel, I put an old lead glass window and antique Mary print that my mother gave me.
I played around with some bokeh shots while taking this photos and then decided to make you a free printable! A little Christmas gift for you…
Feel free to download the large version below to use in your own Christmas decor, crafting or card making. Just right click and save to your computer. The image is approximate 8″ x 12″. You can easily resize it yourself to make it smaller for cards, frames, etc. The watermark will not appear as it does above. This is offered for personal use only (no reselling in any format please and thank you!).
My next post will give you a tour of our living room (and Christmas tree!), along with a little peek into the playroom and all of the festivities I created in there for Hazel and Owen. I hope you have enjoyed the tour thus far.
If you missed any of it, just click on the link below…
Till next time…

Christmas will be a delight this year in your beautiful home, I know the kids are really enjoying this, they get so excited with all the decorations and lights!

    Hi Alice,
Love the rustic vignette, and that great crate. I am putting one in the middle of my table later today. Finally finished trimming the tree yesterday, and just love it. For the first time, my lovely, and very staunchly traditional daughters said they wouldn't be upset if our tree had white lights…so I got to decorate it completely the way I wanted to for the very first time!! LOL!! And they LOVE it! Makes it even better.
Love all of your photos, and special touches. Just so pretty! What a blessing to have your Mom help out!!
    Christmas joy to you!

    So beautiful Alice,
Such a Nordic feel here, as for your home tour with Hazels and Owens rooms I love there sweetness and that canopy of lace and lights is dreamy.
Owens room is full of fun little monsters and the tone of subtle grey's and touches of colour is perfect.
Wish I had gone this direction when my daughter was young but time was not the style.

A beautiful family Christmas to you and yours,

Come visit our simple branches for a tree and the ornaments of creation.

    See you soon.

Great decor! My neighbor came over to help me decorate this year and it was fun to see how differently she arranged the Christmas "stuff" into vignettes, etc. I found your blog via Debra at "Common Ground".
