DIY Gnome Door Hanger or Gnome Christmas Tree Topper
Supplies:
- Glue Gun
- Wire Cutters
- Wire Witch Hat Form (Alternatively, use a wire Christmas Tree Door Hanger Decoration)
- Craft Fur
- Scrap Fabric
- Large Wooden Ball/Bead
- Cricut Machine (optional, can cut by hand without one)
Directions:
- Gather Supplies. Watch the video below for more instructions and pictures.
- Carefully use the wire cutters to remove the sides of the witch hat.
- Use a piece of craft fur to create a beard for your gnome and place it on top of the wire form.
- Clip access wire sticking out if needed.
- Use a glue gun to attach the fur to the wire form.
- Take a piece of scrap fabric (I used red buffalo plaid flannel for Christmas) and wrap around the head of the wire form.
- Clip access wire sticking out if needed (I wanted my hat to be droopy but you can keep the point if you prefer a pointy, traditional gnome hat).
- Use a glue gun to attach the fabric and glue the ends to create a point in the hat.
- Glue the wooden bead to the beard and under the hat.
- Carefully bend the hat slightly to create a curve in the head (so it looks 3-D).
- If desired, use a cutting machine (like Cricut) to cute a piece of white felt in a star shape. Then cut HTV to spell Merry Christmas.
- I used my Cricut Mini Easy Press to attach the HTV to the felt star, then I used my glue gun to attach the felt star to the Gnome hat.
- Hang and enjoy!
